Typically 60-90 days from submission of a complete application.

Can I pass my St. Kitts & Nevis citizenship to my children?

Do I need to live in St. Kitts and Nevis in order to be granted citizenship?

No, there are no residency requirements for citizenship by descent.

Can I apply for St. Kitts & Nevis citizenship in case my parents are deceased?

You can still apply with appropriate documentation proving your parent's citizenship status.

What documents prove St Kitts and Nevis citizenship by descent?

To prove and register your claim to St Kitts and Nevis citizenship by descent, you must provide official documentation establishing an unbroken lineage to your Kittitian or Nevisian ancestor. All documents must be originals or certified copies, properly apostilled or authenticated.

  • Your birth certificate: Showing your full name, date and place of birth, and names of your parents
  • Parent's birth certificate: Confirming their birth in St Kitts and Nevis, or their Kittitian/Nevisian citizenship
  • Connecting documents: Marriage certificates and any name-change documentation linking you to the Kittitian/Nevisian citizen
  • Parent's citizenship evidence: Their passport, citizenship certificate, or national ID from St Kitts and Nevis
  • Your valid passport: Current passport from your present nationality
  • Police clearance: Certificate from your country of residence

If your claim is through a grandparent, additional generational linking documents are required. Mirabello Consultancy can assist with tracing documentation and liaising with the St Kitts and Nevis government to facilitate your registration.

How many countries can I travel to visa-free with a St Kitts passport obtained by descent?

A St Kitts and Nevis passport obtained through citizenship by descent provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 148 countries and territories — identical to passports obtained through any other route. The St Kitts passport is the strongest in the Caribbean region.

  • Europe (Schengen Area): Visa-free access to all 27 Schengen countries for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period
  • United Kingdom: Visa-free entry for short visits
  • Singapore: Visa-free access to a key Asian business and financial hub
  • Russia: Visa-free entry
  • Hong Kong: Visa-free access
  • CARICOM: Freedom of movement across Caribbean Community nations

The St Kitts and Nevis government actively pursues new visa-waiver agreements to enhance passport mobility. There is no distinction on the passport between citizenship by descent, birth, or investment. Mirabello Consultancy can advise on how to maximise the travel benefits of your St Kitts citizenship.

Can I claim St Kitts citizenship by descent if I was born outside the Caribbean?

Yes, you can claim St Kitts and Nevis citizenship by descent regardless of where you were born. Your current country of residence and place of birth are not barriers to eligibility, provided you can establish the qualifying lineage to a citizen of St Kitts and Nevis.

  • No birth location requirement: You do not need to have been born in St Kitts, the Caribbean, or any specific country
  • No residency requirement: You are not required to live in St Kitts and Nevis to apply or to maintain your citizenship once granted
  • Remote application: The application can be submitted from anywhere in the world through the appropriate government channels or an authorised representative
  • Diaspora eligibility: Many successful applicants are members of the Kittitian diaspora living in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and other countries

The key requirement is documentary evidence of your descent from a citizen of St Kitts and Nevis, not your physical location. Mirabello Consultancy regularly assists diaspora members across the globe in securing their citizenship by descent and can manage the entire process remotely.

Does St Kitts and Nevis allow dual citizenship for those claiming by descent?

Yes, St Kitts and Nevis fully permits dual citizenship for all citizens, including those who obtain their citizenship through descent. You are not required to renounce any existing nationality when registering your Kittitian or Nevisian citizenship.

  • No renunciation required: St Kitts and Nevis places no obligation on you to give up your current citizenship or any other citizenship you may hold
  • Multiple nationalities: You may hold citizenships of several countries simultaneously alongside your St Kitts citizenship
  • No notification: The St Kitts government does not inform other countries of your new citizenship status
  • Passing to children: You can pass your St Kitts citizenship to your children, who may also hold multiple citizenships

It is important to check the dual citizenship laws of your current country of nationality, as some nations have restrictions or consequences associated with acquiring an additional citizenship. Mirabello Consultancy can help you understand the implications specific to your situation.

What is the cost of registering St Kitts and Nevis citizenship by descent?

The cost of registering St Kitts and Nevis citizenship by descent is significantly lower than the Citizenship by Investment programme. Since you are claiming an existing entitlement rather than investing for citizenship, the fees consist primarily of administrative and processing charges.

  • Application fee: A government processing fee applies for the registration of citizenship by descent
  • Passport fee: Standard passport issuance fee once citizenship is confirmed
  • Document authentication: Costs for apostille, notarisation, and certified translation of supporting documents vary by country
  • Legal and professional fees: Fees for professional assistance with document preparation and application management
  • Police clearance: Fees for obtaining criminal background checks from your country of residence

The total cost is typically a fraction of the CBI programme's USD 250,000 minimum investment. Exact government fees should be confirmed at the time of application as they are subject to periodic revision. Mirabello Consultancy offers a transparent fee structure and can provide a detailed cost estimate during your complimentary consultation.
