From announcement to application
How can you prepare for St Vincent citizenship by investment?
St Vincent citizenship by investment cannot be applied for yet, so preparation means following the legislation and keeping any property purchase separate from it. Parliament must first pass the enabling law. The steps below help you move early once official rules appear, without relying on figures that the Government has not published.
- Follow the legislation
The programme needs enabling legislation and a designated authority. Both will set out who decides applications and how.
- Wait for official routes and amounts
Read the official routes, amounts and fees once they are published, including whether real estate is included.
- Treat a purchase as a property decision
Any purchase now stands on its own merits. Do not assume it will count towards citizenship unless the new rules confirm it.
- Consider open programmes
If you need a second citizenship sooner, the established Caribbean programmes accept applications today. We compare them with your goals.
Property in St Vincent and the Grenadines
How can foreign nationals buy property in St Vincent and the Grenadines?
Foreign nationals can buy land in St Vincent and the Grenadines by obtaining an Alien Land Holding Licence from the Government. Applications go through the Office of the Prime Minister, registered through a local attorney-at-law, and approval rests with Cabinet. Holding a licence can also support an application for permanent residence, which is separate from citizenship.
The licence
All foreign nationals acquiring land need the licence. The file includes a CV, banker's reference, police record, survey plans and a property valuation.
The sale
Official guidance says the sale agreement usually takes about 3 months and is subject to licence approval by Cabinet. The conveyance then transfers the property.
Permanent residence
The official fee schedule lists permanent residence by reason of the licence. Residence is its own application and does not grant citizenship.
Questions
What do people ask about property in St Vincent?
St Vincent and the Grenadines draws two kinds of question: whether foreigners can buy property, and whether property leads to citizenship. The answers below separate those clearly. Land purchase under licence works today, while citizenship by investment is announced and not open, so we give no price or timeline beyond what official sources state.
Can foreigners buy property in St Vincent and the Grenadines?
Yes, with a licence. All foreign nationals acquiring land must obtain an Alien Land Holding Licence from the Government, applied for through the Office of the Prime Minister and registered through a local attorney-at-law.
What is the Alien Land Holding Licence?
The Alien Land Holding Licence is the Government permission that foreign nationals need to acquire land. The application includes your CV, banker's reference, police record, survey plans and a valuation, and a medical is often required.
How much does the licence cost?
An application fee, licence fee and stamp duty apply, and the published schedules are dated. Ask the Office of the Prime Minister or your attorney for current amounts, based on the property's value, before you commit.
Does buying property in St Vincent and the Grenadines lead to citizenship?
Not today. The citizenship by investment programme is not open, and a real-estate option has not been confirmed. Property bought now gives no citizenship right.
Does St Vincent and the Grenadines have citizenship by investment?

When will the programme launch?
The national broadcaster reported in October 2026 that the Government hopes to roll it out during the first quarter of 2027. That is a stated aim, not a legal date.
Can a land licence give me residence?
The official fee schedule includes permanent residence by reason of the licence, so a licence holder can apply. The application goes to the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and it does not grant citizenship.
