Renewal itself is fully remote: it is handled through any St Kitts and Nevis High Commission, embassy, consulate or authorised agent, with no visit to the federation required. The one in person step is the biometric enrolment appointment, available at St Kitts and at overseas centres currently including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, Singapore, Istanbul, London, Ottawa, Toronto, Washington D.C., Lagos, Jeddah and Iraq, with further consular locations added in phases, so no Caribbean trip is needed. In London a private, appointment only VIP enrolment suite is also available, at an additional USD 500 service fee. Enrolment is booked through an Authorised Agent on the official government platform, and the most effective time saver is booking early, in particular before 31 December 2026 while the 10% fee reduction applies.
Biometrics and deadlines
St Kitts and Nevis launched its mandatory National Biometric Enrolment and Passport Modernisation Programme on 14 April 2026. It applies to citizens who obtained citizenship through the CBI programme, including all dependants and children, and is part of every new citizenship application submitted since that date; native born and descent citizens are outside the retrospective programme. Enrolment must be completed by 31 July 2027; after that date existing passports are no longer accepted for international travel, while citizenship itself is unaffected. The enrolment fee is all inclusive of the passport upgrade, and since 1 September 2026 enrolment flows directly into passport production. Biometrics are captured once for the lifetime of the document, so there is no re enrolment and no separate biometric fee at later renewals. The Eastern Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Regulatory Authority (ECCIRA) framework, established in December 2025, would introduce mandatory biometrics, a 30 day physical presence requirement within the first five years and an initial 5 year passport upgraded to 10 years after orientation across its five member states. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank expects the Authority to begin operating later in 2026 and is still recruiting its chief executive; none of these measures is in force yet, no start date has been announced, and existing renewal rules continue to apply.

Every dependant who obtained citizenship through the CBI programme must also complete biometric enrolment, to age appropriate standards. The enrolment fee is family tiered and all inclusive of the new biometric passport: USD 2,500 for the main adult (16+), USD 2,000 for a second adult and USD 1,300 per child under 16, so a family of two adults and two children pays USD 7,100, or USD 6,390 when the appointments are booked and completed between 20 July and 31 December 2026 under the 10% reduction.
